Falsework of Bridge Collapses.

One Killed, Nine Injured, in Accident to Philadelphia Concrete Structure.

Philadelphia, Dec. 27.—One man was killed and nine others were injured, two of them seriously, by the collapse to-day of a portion of falsework supporting a new concrete bridge over Wissahickon Creek, in the northwest section of the city.

The bridge is the largest concrete structure in the country and is the only one of its kind in the world. It is known as the Walnut Lane Bridge and was built by the city at a cost of $300,000 to connect Germantown and Roxborough, suburban sections.

Workmen were removing falsework from one of the spans, when the rest of the framework under the span collapsed. The framework fell 140 feet from the highest point in the bridge.
